Caitlin Harnett hails from Sydney, Australia but her songs evoke Laurel Canyon of the early 1970’s. They share the personal and poetic nature of Joni and Jackson Browne’s early songs, youthful in their outlook but with age-old concerns at their core.

Caitlin is one of the youngest signings to Mushroom Music Publishing, Australia’s largest independent music publisher.  She  has been recognised overseas with an honourable mention in the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) and 2^nd place in the Billboard Song Contest (Americana category).  

In Australia she has performed in many venues around the country and is a regular on the Festival circuit. The fragility that has captured audiences at her live performances belies the clarity and fullness of her voice. And when she tweaks a word here and turns a phrase there, the simple notion of a girl alone onstage with her guitar is not so simple anymore.

Caitlin’s much-anticipated sophomore EP ‘All in the Golden Afternoon’ uses the template from her delicate debut ‘Tiny Spark’ but expands the musical palette.  The ‘Alice in Wonderland’ themed title and artwork serves as a pointer to Harnett’s sweetness and wide-eyed innocence.  In it’s first month of release, two of the tracks featured in prime time Australian Commercial Television programs.

‘Tiny Spark’, her debut EP released in 2009, achieved great success.  All 5 original songs continue to be used on television. The track ‘Tying Hands and Holding Shoelaces’  featured in the Australian film ‘Centreplace’ and earned her the Runner up spot  in the prestigious Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition.
